The term Grecian Vase is a generic to describe a artifact from the country of Greece created during ancient times.

In modern slang, "to admire a Grecian Vase" means to study an object intensely. In 1988, Harvey Dolan, an principal maintenance inspector with the Federal Aviation Administration studied an oxygen tank like a Grecian Vase, when Dirk Pitt brought him some aircraft wreckage. [1]
