The White River National Forest is a forest protected by federal law in the United States and located in Colorado. The national forest partially covers the Sawatch Mountains and the San Juan Mountains. The White River starts in the forest.

In 1988, Harvey Dolan placed a call to a ranger station in the park to relay a message to Dirk Pitt. The ranger sent the message to Lee Raferty, who had the only phone in the area. [1]
